AFCON CAF : Executive Committee has decided, 2021 AFCON postponed to 2022

The 2021 CAN will no more take place, at least next January. The competition is postponed until 2022. The news came out on Tuesday 30 June.

It was during a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee that focused on the impact of Covid-19 on African football. And other related issues. The Executive Committee of the African Football Confederation (CAF) decided by videoconference. Initially scheduled from 9 January to 6 February in Cameroon, 2021 AFCON will suffer the same fate. As 2020 Euro and Copa America and be postponed for a year, to early 2022. Indicate the first leaks!

Delayed for one year, the competition will take place in January 2022. Because the playoffs are only at the second day. And they will not resume until October 2020 at best. And moreover Euro and Olympic Games are for summer 2021.

In addition, the same authority decided to reschedule 2020 CHAN, scheduled last April to January 2021 in Cameroon.
