Africa Soccer SuperSport, Celtic share spoils

SuperSport United came from behind to force a 1-1 draw with Bloemfontein Celtic in the MTN8 semi-final, first leg played in South Africa on Sunday.

Ndumiso Mabena put Celtic in front in the first-half before the hosts crawled back into the game through Ghapani Lungu at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The second leg match is scheduled for November 7 2020 when Celtic welcome SuperSport whereas Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates square up on November 8 2020 in another second leg. Pirates won the first leg 3-0 on Saturday.

After the game, coaches for both teams admitted that the tie is far from over.

Celtic coach John Maduka said he charges should have wrapped up the game if they were clinical enough upfront.

“We started the game very well. We managed to create so many chances and if we were sharp enough, the game was supposed to be finished in the first-half. If you miss opportunities, it gets back to you,” Maduka told SuperSport TV.

SuperSport mentor Kaitano Tembo said he was satisfied with the result.

“Not a good first-half performance because we looked a bit flat. In the second half, we improved; we got better, we are still alive. It is played over two legs,” Tembo said.
