Egyptian Premier League Al Ahly waste chance to go two points clear

Al Ahly invited pressure on themselves when they squandered an early lead to settle for a 1-1 draw with Future FC in Egypt on Sunday evening.

Al Ahly went into the Egyptian Premier League match at Al Ahly We Al Salam Stadium fresh from Saudi Arabia.

The Pitso Mosimane men had won the CAF Super Cup after beating Raja Casablanca 6-5 on post-match penalties last week.

All seemed fine for Al Ahly on Monday.

Mohamed Sherif gave Al Ahly an early third minute lead only to be pegged back by a goal from Karim Nedved, Al Ahly’s loanee to Future FC, in the second half.

Nonetheless, Al Ahly lead the table on goal-aggregate but tie on 19 points with holders Zamalek who are on second place.

Al Ahly have played one game less compared to Zamalek who can go top of the table for the first time this campaign if they win away at National Bank on Monday evening.

Future are on position 12 with eight points.
