Nigeria NPFL: Boboye Optimistic Of Victory Against Heartland FC

Akwa United head coach Kennedy Boboye is optimistic his players will emerge victorious when they take on Heartland FC on Matchday 13 of the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL on Sunday evening.

The Promise Keepers have been struggling in front of goals this season and have been able to score just 9 goals in 11 matches.

Boboye in his pre-match conference ahead of today’s game admitted that his players have been goal-shy, but believe they will get over it and start making their chances count.

Boboye who guided Akwa United to win the title last season noted that he has observed the lapses and wants his players to work hard.

He said, “We have taken time to review our performances and one thing we have observed is that we are struggling to score goals and that has shown in our results.

It’s unbelievable that we have scored only 9 goals in 11 matches, and that is not good enough for us.

I’m happy that we observed these lapses early enough and I can say that we have really worked on that and there have been lots of improvement in our scoring drills in training sessions we have had this week.

We are building a team that any player on the pitch can score.

I’m optimistic that my boys will go into the game against Heartland with the same scoring mentality they exhibited in training this week.

All they need to do is to be more aggressive in front of goal” Boboye.
