CHAN CHAN 2023: Salisu Invites 35 Players For Ghana

35 players who will compete for spots in Super Eagles B team that will face Ghana home and away in a 2023 African Nations Championship qualifying match have been called to camp by head coach Salisu Yusuf.

Adeyinka Adewale, the first-choice goalkeeper for Akwa United FC, is at the top of the list.

He was a member of the Super Eagles A squad for the international friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador in the United States of America earlier in the summer as well as the two Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe in June.

Sani Faisal, a defender for Katsina United FC, Babatunde Bello, a midfielder for Akwa United, Ojo Olorunleke, a keeper for Enyimba FC, Chiamaka Madu, a midfielder for Rivers United, and veteran defenders Tope Olusesi and Samson Gbadebo are all called up.

In addition, Yusuf has invited Nathaniel Nwosu, who garnered praise for his outstanding goalkeeping performance for the Flying Eagles during their WAFU B U20 Cup victory in May in the Niger Republic, as well as tenacious Rivers United defender Kazie Enyinnaya and NPFL top scorer Chijioke Akuneto, who is also on the roster of league champion Rivers United.

On Wednesday, August 10, all invited players must be present at the Bolton White Apartments in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja.

The first leg of the match between the Black Galaxies and the Eagles B will take place in Accra on August 28. The second leg is already scheduled for September 3 at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

The team with the best overall record will gain a spot in the 7th African Nations Championship finals, which will be held in Algeria early in 2019.

Nigeria won bronze at the third competition, which was held in South Africa in 2014, and finished second at the sixth competition, which was held in Morocco four years earlier.

The global coronavirus pandemic, which occurred early last year, prevented The Eagles B from competing in the most recent round of the competition, which was held in Cameroon.
