The Libyan side Al Ittihad Misuratta FC confirmed on Thursday the appointment of the Belgian coach Luc Eymael as their new head coach since leaving the Stade Tunisien in September 2021.

“The deal is for a couple of years with an additional option.” The Belgian’s representative Brett Arthur tells KickOff.

“Luc is quite excited. But if there is an interest that develops elsewhere as time goes on Luc has an exit clause in that contract.

“We all know what Luc’s intentions are, he wants to come back to the country [South Africa] one day.

“The reality is SAFA has cleared him but everyone is scared.

“And if he was the so-called racist then why would he coach in an Arabic country? So that’s not true.

“But ja, it’s a top division club there, it’s a top four/six club. The level there is similar to two and five in South Africa excluding Mamelodi Sundowns.

“It’s not a glamorous club in terms of winning trophies. But it’s a well-structured and organised club.”
