FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP Qatar 2022: Tunisia Risks Withdrawal From World Cup Following Interference

Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles could be forced to withdraw from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar as a result of a FIFA statement citing influence by the government in the country’s football administration.

According to FIFA, Tunisia’s participation in the Qatar 2022 World Cup may be prohibited due to the North African country’s government intervention in football-related topics.

in line with BBC.com following remarks by Tunisia’s Minister of Youth and Sports Kamel Deguiche about the potential for “dissolving Federal bureaux,” FIFA released a statement.

FIFA views Deguiche’s comments as an intrusion by the Federation Tunisienne de Football (FTF) into the administration of Tunisian football.

The world football governing body has also requested clarification from FTF regarding its current predicament.

FIFA reaffirmed its statutes, which declare that member organizations are “legally required to manage their activities independently and without improper influence from outside parties.

If these responsibilities are not met, consequences under Fifa legislation, including suspension of the relevant association, may be imposed.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup group that includes Tunisia also includes France, Denmark, and Australia.

Six FIFA World Cups have been attended by the Carthage Eagles: Argentina 1978, France 1998, Korea/Japan 2002, Germany 2006, Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022.

The FIFA World Cup finals’ knockout round has never been reached by Tunisia.
