Premier League Premier League Wrap: Brighton Thrash Wolves As Palace Pip Hammers

Brighton defeated Wolves 6-0 to increase their chances of making it to Europe, while Crystal Palace defeated struggling West Ham 4-3 on Saturday to all but guarantee their Premier League survival.

Last weekend’s FA Cup semifinal loss to Manchester United on penalties can be avenged if Brighton advances to the Europa League or Europa Conference League.

The eighth-placed Seagulls, who have previously defeated Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea this season, are still in the running to accomplish that goal after completing their biggest victory of the year.

The sixth minute at the Amex Stadium saw Deniz Undav score his first Premier League goal from close range for Roberto De Zerbi’s team.

Pascal Gross scored twice, the second a magnificent volley that sailed into the top corner in the 13th and 26th minutes.

For the first time since 2016, Brighton scored four goals in the first half thanks to a Danny Welbeck header.

After the break, the former Manchester United force scored once more, and Undav added a second with a dinked finish in the 66th.

Jordan Ayew, Wilfried Zaha, Jeff Schlupp, and Eberechi Eze all scored at Selhurst Park to help Palace move 11 points clear of the bottom three teams.

Since Roy Hodgson returned to the club for a second stint in place of the fired Patrick Vieira, his team has won four of its six games.

For West Ham, goals were scored by Nayef Aguerd, Michail Antonio, and Tomas Soucek.

The team of David Moyes is already five points above the relegation zone, but the upcoming week’s challenging matches against Manchester City and Manchester United are scary.

A late collapse cost fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest a 2-1 loss against Brentford.

In first half stoppage time, Danilo celebrated his 22nd birthday by firing Forest ahead from close range.

But in the 82nd minute, Brentford equalized when Ivan Toney’s free-kick bounced past Keylor Navas’ feeble attempt to save it.

Josh Dasilva’s deadly finish four minutes into stoppage time came after Toney’s 20th goal in the top division this season, dropping Forest to just one point above the danger zone.
