Transfers Done Deal: FC Nantes tie down Mostafa Mohamed to permanent deal

French Ligue 1 outfit FC Nantes have announced the exercise of the option to buy Egyptian international striker Mostafa Mohamed on a permanent deal.

The 25-year-old Mohamed had moved to Nantes on a season-long loan deal from Galatasaray, with the French club having the option to make the contract permanent.

After helping the Yellow and Green maintain their Ligue 1 status on the final matchday following victory against Angers, taking advantage of Auxerre’s defeat to Lens, Mostafa has signed a new four-year deal, which will keep him at the Beaujoire Stadium until the summer of 2027.

“FC Nantes has exercised the purchase option with the Turkish club Galatasaray SK [Süper Lig] for the permanent transfer of Mostafa Mohamed [25] to FC Nantes. Loaned this season to the Yellow and Green, the Egyptian international will be linked to the Club des Bords de l’Erdre until 2027, from July 1, 2023,” read the statement on Nantes’ official website.

In all competitions this season, he scored 11 goals and provided five assists, including a masterful one for Ludovic Blas in the Europa League play-off equaliser at Juventus, Turin (1-1). In total, Mostafa managed 51 appearances for Nantes in which he scored 11 goals and provided five assists.

He helped the club reach the second round of the Europa League, before being knocked out by Juventus, as well as leading the team to the Coupe de France final, which they lost 5-1 to Toulouse.
