Transfer window Kenya’s Sven Yidah leaves Marumo Gallants after one season

Kenya midfielder Sven Yidah has parted ways with South African club Marumo Gallants after only one season.

Yidah has confirmed his exit in a post on social media, saying: “Thank you Marumo Gallants family for being my home for the past year,” he wrote, adding: “As our time together comes to an end, I appreciate everything and wish you all the best next season.”

He joined Marumo in August 2022, securing a deal after training with the team for a while. Prior to that, he began his career at Ligi Ndogo S.C. Academy and later joined Kariobangi Sharks in January 2016, signing a four-year contract.

Yidah extended his contract with Sharks for another three years, until the end of the 2021 season. In September 2020, Yidah left Sharks before the end of his contract to join Nairobi City Stars on a two-year deal.

He gained recognition for his unique penalty celebrations against Mbao FC in the 2019 Sportpesa Super Cup, which became a sensation worldwide, and repeated the celebration after scoring from the penalty spot against Everton, who were captained by Wayne Rooney, in the SportPesa exhibition match at Kasarani Stadium.
