Barcelona Barcelona Yet To Register Gundogan With La Liga

Due to the club’s violation of Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, numerous Barcelona players, including midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, have yet to register with LaLiga.

The situation has casted doubt on their participation in Sunday’s season-opening match against Getafe.

The newest additions Inigo Martinez, Ilkay Gundogan, and Oriol Romeu have also not been registered, with the exception of the former captain of Manchester City Gundogan, who arrived on a free transfer in June.

Additionally, players with fresh contracts including Ronald Araujo, Marcos Alonso, Sergi Roberto, and Inaki Pena are still unregistered.

As a result, just 12 players are eligible for the LaLiga champions’ season-opening match.

The same thing happened to Barca previous season when they were prevented from acquiring new players like Robert Lewandowski, Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen, and Raphinha due to tight LaLiga financial constraints.

The club eventually activated a last-minute economic operation, and they were eventually registered on the eve of Barca’s season start.

Jules Kounde, a defender, had to wait until the end of August to finish his formalities, which led to his missing numerous games.

To register both new signings and contract renewals, clubs must meet the LaLiga salary cap.

Barcelona turned to selling club assets as “economic levers” last year when their indebtedness reached 1.35 billion euros ($1.49 billion) in order to generate the LaLiga margin they required.

After agreeing to a financial arrangement for 1.45 billion euros to restore the venerable but dilapidated stadium, they won’t be able to play at Camp Nou for the upcoming seasons.

The club’s largest source of revenue came from the 100,000-seat stadium, and for the second consecutive season, they will need to find innovative ways to stay competitive while adhering to LaLiga’s FFP regulations.

With the music streaming service Spotify (SPOT.N), the team inked a 280 million euro sponsorship contract for its uniforms and stadium.

Additionally, they approved the sale of a minority investment in their audio-visual division to Socios.com and Orpheus Media for 200 million euros as well as the sale of a 25% stake in their LaLiga TV rights for the following 25 years to US private equity firm Sixth Street (TSLX.N).

According to reports, they are reportedly attempting to sell an additional percentage of their audio-visual business to get the money required to meet LaLiga’s pay cap requirements.
