AFCON BREAKING : Morocco to host AFCON 2025

AFCON 2025 Morocco

Morocco will be the host country of AFCON 2025 host country as the North African country has been voted on Wednesday during Confederation of African Football’s General Assembly in Cairo, Egypt.

It was almost obvious after the withdrawals of Algeria, which acted as the biggest rival for the organization of the competition, of Zambia but also of Benin and Nigeria, which presented a joint application to host the competition.

Morocco therefore unsurprisingly obtained the 22 votes for the designation of the host country of the tournament.

If Morocco, which proposed 24 training stadiums for its candidacy for 2025, which amounts to a training ground for each participating country according to Kora Maroc, crushed the competition, that of 2027 is much closer.

Indeed, there is Senegal which offers 7 stadiums, 20 training grounds and 450 hotel complexes among the aspiring countries, just like Botswana which is in discussions with Morocco for a co-organization, but also the Benin-Nigeria doublet who no longer wants to let this windfall pass after having cleared the way for Morocco for 2025, and finally the joint candidacy of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. The race has been won by the Eastern African bid as CAF confirmed.
