Kenya KCB scored and then parked the bus – Gor Mahia’s McKinstry

Gor Mahia coach Johnathan McKinstry admitted to being frustrated with KCB’s style of play during their 1-1 FKF Premier League draw at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.

Apollo Otieno’s strike in the 17th minute gave the Bankers an early lead. However, the game took a twist in the dying moments as Ugandan import Rogers Mugisha scored the equaliser for K’Ogalo.

“It was a mistake from us (to concede the goal) and look KCB then went on to put a solid wall at the back and defend well and made it difficult for us in the first half but we kept grinding away and we snatched the draw,” said McKinstry, adding: “We are disappointed to take one point, you saw our opponents even when we went 1-1 they were satisfied to take a point, their action on the pitch can attest to these.”

KCB’s Bernard Mwalala refused to dwell on McKinstry’s claims only saying his side should have carried the day had they utilised the chances they created. “Honestly speaking, these are two points lost, if you look keenly we had some wonderful football but I think football is a game of chances, we created more chances in terms of counter-attacks but we were not clinical upfront, Gor got one simple tap-in and we have lost two points, but will take one because the league is very tight,” said Mwalala.

K’Ogalo remained second on the log with nine points, four fewer than leaders Posta Rangers, while KCB dropped to fourth with eight points.
