Inter Miami head coach Tata Martino reacted to rumors linking Lionel Messi with a potential comeback in Barcelona in the upcoming January transfer window.

With Inter Miami being eliminated from MLS play-offs, the Florida-based outfit will have the opportunity to loan a player for the second part of the season.

Rumors have quickly started sending Messi to Barcelona as he would have the chance to say goodbye to his fans for his final dance.

However, Miami boss Gerard Tata Martino who also coached Messi at Barcelona says he doesn’t know a reason apart from fun which will make the 2022 World Champion comeback to Catalonia.

“Is he going for fun? Maybe he’s going to visit Barcelona. Other than that, I don’t know anything else about it”, he said after Inter Miami’s 0-1 loss against Cincinati.

“I saw Messi well, he no longer has any problems with his injury. He played very little and perhaps that’s why he lacked rhythm.

“We played one of the best first halves of the last half but we didn’t make the difference.”
