FIFA World Cup South Africa must be cautious against Rwanda – Percy Tau

Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau has called on his teammates not to underrate Rwanda when the two sides face off in the second match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at Huye Stadium.

Tau, who features for Egyptian giants Al Ahly, was on target as South Africa beat Benin 2-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday but he remains concerned that Amavubi will be a hard nut to crack. “We go to Rwanda, but we must be cautious, although we will still be confident,” Tau told the media as quoted by Times Sport, adding: “We know it is going to be difficult in Rwanda, but we will do our best.”

Saturday’s victory saw South Africa lead the charge in Group C while Rwanda, who settled for a goalless draw with Zimbabwe on November 15, are joint second alongside Nigeria and Lesotho who played out a 1-1 draw on Thursday.

It is the first time South Africa and Rwanda are going to play at the senior football level.
