Kenya Posta Rangers suffer FKF title setback, Shabana FC held by KCB

Posta Rangers’ quest to win their first-ever FKF Premier League title suffered a huge setback after they went down 1-0 against Nairobi City Stars in a matchday 13 fixture at Machakos Stadium on Saturday.

The Mailmen went into the fixture seeking to stretch their lead at the summit of the 18-team table but it was not the case as Samuel Kapus scored for Simba wa Nairobi what turned out to be the winner in the 17th minute.

The defeat which was the second of the campaign for Posta, saw them keep their top spot on 25 points, but they could relinquish the same if second-placed Gor Mahia, who have 24, manage to beat Kariobangi Sharks in their fixture on Sunday.

In Homabay Stadium, Shabana FC once failed to hold onto their lead as KCB pegged them back for a 1-1 draw. Tore Bobe took the lead courtesy of Brian Michira in the sixth minute but the Bankers drew level when Francis Kahiro found the back of the net.

The draw saw the Kisii-based Glamour Boys move a place up to position 14 on the table with 11 points while KCB moved third on 23 points. Meanwhile, Ulinzi Stars produced a superb display to demolish FC Talanta 3-0. Boniface Muchiru was the hero for the Soldiers as he scored a hat-trick to hand them their fifth victory of the season.

Ulinzi are now 11th on the log with 16 points while Talanta dropped to seventh with 19 points.
