The Africa Cup of Nations kicks off tonight with a major Group B match between Egypt and Ghana.

The Pharaohs were on the verge of a shocking loss to Group B underdogs Mozambique in Abidjan, only for a last-ditch penalty kick from Mohamed Salah to rescue their blushes on AFCON opening weekend.

The Black Stars were shocked 2-1 by Cape Verde in their opening encounter.

Even while both teams have a strong tournament record, they have recently fallen short of their lofty expectations.

This encounter between the two titans will mark the fifth TotalEnergies CAF AFCON.

They have already played each other three times in groups—once in a win apiece, once in a draw, and once in a goal each for both teams—and once in the final, which Egypt won 1-0 in 2010.
