AFCON AFCON 2023: Namibia Vs South Africa Confirmed Starting XI

At Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium on Sunday night, South Africa will play their neighbour Namibia in an attempt to collect their first point in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Bafana Bafana will have to approach this as a knockout match even though it is only the second matchday of the season, while the Brave Warriors may advance to the next round with a victory.

In their opening encounter of the competition on Tuesday, South Africa, who had previously gone through a run of poor performances, lost 2-0 to Mali.

Namibia has already achieved a historic victory in this tournament, though, and given their play in that game, you wouldn’t rule out them winning this one as well.

In their opening game, the Brave Warriors produced maybe the largest upset of the competition thus far, defeating Tunisia, one of the tournament favourites, and earning their first victory at an AFCON in addition to their first victory over the Eagles of Carthage.

Hugo Broos’s team would be in danger of losing and would be out of the tournament, but it’s important to remember that they haven’t lost to the team on the other side of the Orange River since 1998.

Nonetheless, history is on Bafana Bafana’s side as the 1996 AFCON champions haven’t dropped their opening two matches in an AFCON since 2008.

Here is how both teams line up
