AFCON AFCON 2023: Salah To Return Back To Liverpool After Injury

Mohamed Salah will no longer be involved in the AFCON 2023 as he is set to return to Liverpool to receive treatment.

Mohamed Salah will travel to Liverpool following the Africa Cup of Nations to receive treatment for his muscular issue, the Egyptian Football Association has revealed.

During the first half of his country’s group-stage match against Ghana on Thursday, the forward continued to experience the problem.

In a later update, it was said that if Egypt advances to the tournament’s knockout stages in the Ivory Coast, he is anticipated to miss their following two games.

Following Monday night’s Pharaohs Group B match against Cape Verde, Salah will return to Merseyside.

The Egyptian FA said in a statement on Sunday: “After additional examinations were conducted on Mohamed Salah during the last hours, and after communication between the national team’s medical staff and his counterpart at Liverpool FC, it was decided that the player will return to England after the Cape Verde match tomorrow to complete his treatment, with the hope that he will join the national team in the semi-final of the AFCON if we qualify.”
