AFCON AFCON 2023: Nigeria, Cameroon Rekindle Rivalry In Round 16

Nigeria Super Eagles will play Cameroon in the knockout round of the AFCON 2023 following the conclusion of all Group C games on Tuesday.

Group C runners-up, the Cameroonians (4 points) will play the Super Eagles (7 points), who were second in the group.

Guinea required a draw against Senegal, the reigning champions, while Cameroon defeated the Gambia 3-2 in their most recent Group C match on Tuesday but instead suffered a 2-0 loss, dropping to third place with four points.

As for Nigeria, they advanced to the Round of 16 after overcoming Guinea Bissau on Monday night with a single goal.

The Super Eagles won 3-2 the last time they faced the Indomitable Lions at the same stage of the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.

The Round of 16 match will take place at Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Saturday, January 27 at 8 p.m. (Cote d’Ivoire time; 9 p.m. Nigeria time).
