Nigerian Players abroad Chukwueze Finally Opens Serie A Goal Account

Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze scored his first Serie A goal as second-placed AC Milan won 3-1 at Hellas Verona.

Chukwueze who has been struggling to replicate his form that endeared AC Milan to sign him from Villarreal, came off the bench and scored the third goal of the game.

Milan is currently 13 points behind Inter Milan, the clear leaders, who will visit Napoli later on Sunday.

Four minutes into the match at the Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium, Milan had an opportunity to take the lead when left back Hernandez’s free kick found Fikayo Tomori, but Tomori missed the mark.

Hernandez continued to make history shortly before halfway, forcing his way through the Verona defence and drilling home the ball from a tight angle.

Milan’s excitement was short-lived as the Frenchman’s celebration towards the crowd earned him a yellow card.

He will now miss Milan’s next league match, which is scheduled for March 30 at Fiorentina.

Hernandez has made 37 appearances this season across all competitions, tallying 10 assists and four goals.

At the beginning of the second half, Pulisic doubled Milan’s lead by pouncing on a rebound to score from close range after Pawel Dawidowicz made a mistake in the set-up.

With the American winger’s goal, Milan’s Serie A goal total reached 5,000; previously, only Juve and Inter had accomplished that feat.

With a powerful goal in the 64th minute, Tijjani Noslin gave Verona a lifeline.

However, Chukwueze, a Milan replacement, ended any chance of a comeback when he volleyed home in the 79th to secure the win for the visitors.
