After only three games in charge of the Pharaohs, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) fired head coach Ehab Galal.
After the Pharaohs lost to Senegal in the play-offs and were unable to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, Galal took Carlos Queiroz’s place in April.
However, the 54-year-old was fired after a startling 2-0 loss to Ethiopia in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier and a 4-1 setback to South Korea in a friendly match.

Hazem Emam, a member of the EFA board, stated that they intend to hire a foreign coach.
Galal led numerous clubs in the past, including Zamalek, El Masry, and Al Ahly Tripoli before being hired by Egypt following a season at Cairo’s Pyramids.
The Pharaohs defeated Guinea 1-0 in his debut game in charge’s June Nations Cup qualifier.
Galal, though, paid a price for his losses to Ethiopia and South Korea.
Emma said the EFA was in talks with several foreign coaches” and will also bring in a technical director.
“I would like to thank coach Ehab Galal, a very respectful man, who has worked under some tough circumstances.
“I want to apologise to him, but sometimes the pressure is too much and we saw it would be better for everyone to change.”
Queiroz, the former Portugal and Iran coach and assistant manager to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, had led Egypt to the AFCON final in Cameroon, where they were beaten on penalties by Senegal.
Egypt then lost to the same opposition – again in a spot-kick shootout – in the play-offs for the World Cup in Qatar.
