Ghana Late call-ups among Black Stars as Ofori, Antwi, Kudus are ruled out

Ghana’s Black Stars will play their two international friendlies of October without Richard Ofori, John Antwi, Mohammed Kudus and others due to travel issues for some and injury for others.

Ghana FA has confirmed Sunday night that Maritzburg and Ghana’s N.1 goalkeeper Richard Ofori will miss friendlies against Mali (October 9) and Qatar (October 12) as his work permit has expired and he needs at least two weeks to get a new one.

Same issue with on-fire Pyramids FC striker John Antwi who will not travel to Antalya, Turkey. Sporting Lisbon’s left-back Lumor Agbebyenu also makes part of the absentees due to visa problems. While Ajax Amsterdam’s versatile midfielder Mohammed Kudus is ruled out with an injury as he missed out Sunday’s clash with Eredivisie giants.

In order to fill the void, Black Stars coach Charles Akonnor handed late call-ups to Trabzonspor’s Caleb Ekuban and Ankaragucu’s Joseph Paintsil.

The team will reportedly start training this Monday, October 5, 2020.
