Nigerian Players abroad Osimhen Targets Playing in Premier League Somedays

The hot-shot Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has raised eyebrows in the Premier League after admitting he longs to test himself in the country’s top division.

The 24-year-old has been in scorching form for his club this season, tallying 19 goals in 21 Serie A contests and serving as the spark that has propelled Napoli to the top of the division by 15 points.

His performances have gained him fans across Europe, including Manchester United, who could be interested in signing him when the summer transfer window opens.

His signing has already been prepared for by Erik ten Hag’s team.

Addressing to the media following a shocking 1-0 loss to Lazio on Friday, Osimhen will only have piqued the interest of any Premier League clubs by declaring his desire to compete there.

I think playing in one of the top five leagues in the world is an amazing feeling for me,” he said after being named ‘Best Foreign Athlete of the Year’ by the Italian Foreign Press Association.

“A lot of people worldwide consider the Premier League as the best and the strongest league but now I’m in one of the best leagues in the world which is the Italian Serie A.

“I’m working so hard to make sure that I achieve my dream of playing in the Premier League some day but like I said, it’s a process and I just want to keep on this momentum and continue to do well.”

Following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure in December, Manchester United is searching for a striker to join the team in the summer. Meanwhile, loanee Wout Weghorst is scheduled to return to Burnley at the end of the current campaign.

Osimhen was coveted by the Premier League before he joined Napoli.

As early as 2019, according to Sky Sports, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Chelsea were keeping tabs on the then-Lille forward’s development.

He only played in Ligue 1 for a single season, but his 18-goal campaign persuaded Napoli to pay up to €80 million (£71 million) to sign him and bring him to Serie A.
