Premier League outfit Sheffield United have confirmed the acquisition of Benie Traore from Swedish top-flight champions BK Hacken.

The 22-year-old Ivorian youngster joined the Blades on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee. Having spent two years playing for ASEC Mimosas in his homeland, the Ivory Coast, Traore joined BK Häcken in January 2021 and made his senior debut the following month, scoring his first goal shortly afterward. During the 2021-22 Swedish Allsvenskan campaign, Traore made 28 appearances in all competitions, including against Aberdeen in the Europa Conference League, scoring three goals.

Traoré penned a new deal with the 2022 Allsvenskan winners last September, having returned to full fitness after a spell on the sidelines, and in March 2023 the forward won his first international cap for Ivory Coast at U23s level.

In the opening weeks of the 2023-24 Allsvenskan, Traore has been in fine form, scoring 12 goals in 14 appearances, including a first-half hat-trick against Hammarby in April. Traore becomes United’s third signing of the summer, following Tunisian international Anis Slimane and French U21s wing-back Yasser Larouci into S2.
