Jude Bellingham, an England midfielder, has won the 2023 Golden Boy title following an incredible debut season at Real Madrid.
The 20-year-old defeated Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig and Jamal Musiala of Bayern Munich to win the prize for players under the age of 21.
Bellingham moved to the Spanish capital from Borussia Dortmund in June for a rumored initial sum of 103 million euros ($112 million).
Since then, he has scored three goals in as many Champions League appearances and is the top scorer in La Liga with 10 goals in 11 games.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has been part of my journey so far at Birmingham, Dortmund, and now Madrid.
“It wouldn’t be possible without them,” Bellingham said on Friday.
“Lastly and most importantly, my family, who give me the support, motivation, and love every day to keep striving.
“Now I have this prestigious award I want to keep going. I want to keep pushing the limits of my potential and hopefully many more trophies to come.”
The Golden Girl was won by 18-year-old Colombian forward Linda Caicedo of Madrid.
In the past, players like Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi, Raheem Sterling, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, and the Barcelona tandem of Pedri and Gavi have all won the Golden Boy award.
