Nigeria Falconets Defeat Tanzania To Edge Closer To FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup

The Nigeria U-20 Women’s team, the Falconets, have qualified for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup final round.

On Sunday, the Nigerian squad defeated their Tanzanian rival 2-1 at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

Twenty minutes in, Janet Akekoromowri gave Nigeria the lead; forty-seven minutes later, Jamila Rajani pulled the opposition level.

Nigeria won the match 2-1 thanks to a goal from Comfort Folorunsho in the 60th minute.

Falconets drew the first leg in Dar es Salaam last weekend, going 1-1 on aggregate to advance to the last round of the qualification.

The winner of the two legs of the qualifier between Nigeria and Burundi will advance to the 2024 World Cup, which will be hosted in Colombia.
