Nigeria AFCON 2023: Lookman Promises Nigerians His A Game

Ademola Lookman has promised to perform at the highest level during the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire this year.

The opening match of the competition between the hosts, Côte d’Ivoire, and Guinea-Bissau is scheduled for next Saturday.

The Eagles’ campaign against Equatorial Guinea kicks off on Sunday, January 14.

Lookman will play in his first-ever big event debut for Nigeria.

Speaking on the preparations Lookman, I’m a chat on NFF TV, said:”Just like the rest of my teammates, we are all prepared, it’s been a few good days training here in Abu Dhabi preparing for the AFCON and obviously getting the mindset to do big things in Ivory Coast.

“Just like everyone, I want to give my best for the team, to bring my A game to this tournament, for Nigeria and for the fans and we will see where that takes us.”

“As a squad and as a team we are together and we believe in ourselves that’s the mindset,” the Atalanta forward continued.

In the meantime, the Eagles defeated a local club team 12-0 on Sunday in an Abu Dhabi test match.

Lookman scored four goals, with two own goals from the opposition and braces from Victor Osimhen, Umar Sadiq, and Moses Simon.

The Eagles will play a friendly match against Guinea on Monday and then return to Nigeria on Tuesday.
