The Super Eagles confirmed today that Terem Moffi, pending permission from CAF and Moffi’s French Ligue 1 club, OGC Nice, had replaced the injured Victor Boniface on the final AFCON roster.
Terem Moffi, a striker for OGC Nice, has been called up to start in place of the injured Victor Boniface, pending CAF approval and the player’s release from his French club.
Babafemi Raji, the Super Eagles’ spokesperson, said on social media:
“Victor Boniface is out and Terem Moffi takes his place pending approval of CAF and concurrence of his club.”
Now that his groyne injury will keep him out of action for several weeks, Victor Boniface will take a flight back to Germany to see his club’s doctors.
Moffi’s French club rejoiced when he was left off the final roster for the AFCON.
His coach even went so far as to call the striker his team’s “best new signing” of the transfer window, even though they had already come to terms with the fact that he would not play in the continental event.
